16 June 2014 – Cannock – CPA, an independent psychology service with a successful track record of applying psychological expertise in primary, secondary and special school settings across the UK, today announces the opening of a new regional office in South Staffordshire.
With the opening of the South Staffordshire office, CPA continues the expansion of its educational and clinical psychology services in schools and residential children’s homes across the Midlands and North West of England. The new 2,300-square foot Dunston office will support existing operations in Wolverhampton, Dudley and the Black Country, and Staffordshire. It will also allow expansion into Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire.
CPA undertakes targeted case work including work with families, group, class and year group programmes, whole school development and staff training. Through needs-led, tailored and evidence based-support, CPA is changing the way that psychology support is delivered to children, schools and families.
Working with school leadership teams and social care clients, CPA co-designs a range of integrated activities across the schools system to both address immediate priorities, whilst also building knowledge and capacity within the school, moving to more preventative and early intervention approaches over time.
CPA partnerships with schools includes therapeutic interventions with work with parents and families; coaching and mentoring to teaching staff; whole school development programmes; and policy and procedural development.
Managing director Kevin Gallagher explained: “To support the growth and, importantly, the operational needs of our teams of practitioners, it was clear that we needed to create a network of three offices – North West, West Midlands and South Midlands.
“This is also allowing us to develop the infrastructure of the service, with the appointment of a deputy managing director, HR manager, new regional business support, and to relocate our finance function to the Midlands.”
Mr Gallagher added: “The development of the structure and the physical and human resources represents a significant investment in the development of the psychology service – not only to respond to increasing demand from schools, but also to have robust mechanisms to support, develop and research the practice and impact on the ground.”
The expansion of CPA’s regional offices also plays a key role in developing CPA’s marketing and training activities, including its continuing professional development (CPD) conferences for schools, which are now being run regularly by CPA’s educational and clinical psychologists to offer key professional insights to schools. CPA is committed to sharing best practices and to providing networking opportunities for education and social care staff. Mr Gallagher continued: “Each regional office will have a significant range of resources, tests and measures which the psychologists require in their work. This is a key component of our delivery model – we take psychology to where it is needed, so regional bases are required to support, sustain and develop this practice approach.
“We will also provide administration support, team meeting spaces and desks so that we have the physical space for professional/collegiate contact – this is an essential mechanism in the delivery of high-quality psychology in the field.”
